
In 2000, Dr. Suzanne Montgomery, Director of the Center for Health Research at Loma Linda University, conducted a prostate cancer prevention research study with African American men in San Bernardino County. In 2001, Dr. V. Diane Woods, (a doctoral student at Loma Linda University), President & CEO of the African American Health Institute, joined Dr. Montgomery’s research team: since that time Dr. Woods has continued conducting community research with men of African ancestry in Southern California and in the Nassau Bahamas. As a result of Dr. Woods’ research the Black men have created a Toolkit to help other men to make a decision about prevention, early detection, and treatment of prostate cancer.
